Which 5.1 headphones to choose?

Sound Quality sucks on both. They don't make 5.1 headphones with good sound quality. Period. Just get a good pair of regular headphones and use EAX or Dolby Headphone or something.

I agree. I think Dolby Headphone does a phenominal job with my Senn 595's.

? i checked the Dolby Headphones homepage.. but i dint understand that is it some program you must download or is it integrated or included with Sennheisers?

also will it work on games or just in Dolby movies?

Dolby Headphone is just the algorithms. Software DVD players usually include a Dolby Headphone mode, and you can buy DSP units with DH processing, usually in conjunction with some not so great cans (with the except of the Philips HP1500, I guess). In games, the CMSS of the Audigy should do an OK job (switch to headphone mode), it's not good for music though AFAIK. (The X-Fi headphone processing is supposed to be improved, even beating DH by a slight margin.)

I'm with Greg on this one. I have the same setup here. Using 595s with Marantz receiver that has Dolby Headphone.

as i mentioned in another thread the Darth Beyers (or Beyer DT770) + Dolby headphone and reasonable amplification make perfect movie listening headphones.. I take my movie watching seriously, sat with cans, and my 110" projector.. Previous movie headphone fave was HD600s, SA5000 briefly.. I've also tried K1000, HE60, Omega II .. DT770's are postively made for movies.. so give up on 5.1 cans and go the DT770 route, i seriously doubt you'd regret it.
