Hi everyone. Very much new to this site and and very very humbled by audiophilia in all it's glory. I listen to a TON of classical (classically trained violinist) and electronica. Secondary genres would be (progressive)rock and hip-hop/rap. Been really getting into jazz lately too after I heard Jimmy Scott at the Iridium. My portable source is my itouch and at home I listen off of my computer/external (mostly personal flac rips or downloads). In both cases I use my Shure e4s.

I'm a dirt poor med student right now (and will probably stay that way for a while) but would like to start my first steps towards auditory bliss. I have about 1000 dollars to blow right now. Any recommendations on what I should throw my $$$ at?

Edit: I use foobar for my player if that matters at all...
