I'd like to make my own cable, with a 1/8" jack on one end, and left/right speakers on the other (just raw wire, left/gnd & right/gnd). I'm looking for something nice quality, white.. and the jack to be something nice too, chrome... anyone know a good source for this stuff?

I doubt you'll have much luck finding cable with a white jacket. You'll probably need to use something called techflex. Look through the DIY interconnects thread at the top of this forum and see what you like - people post what they used to make them.

I use www.haveinc.com

but I don't know if they will ship to canada.
They have the white canare starquad $0.37/ feet

They don't have much choice in the connectors though.
For mini they only carry canare f12, but they won't fit with the canare starquad i think. You have to drill the hole bigger on the 1/8" connector to fit the cable.

If you use an uncolored teflon-insulated wire/cable, it's white. What I think would look really nice is to get, say some starquad of any color, strip off the PVC insulation around the four wires inside, but be careful not to remove the shield. Put small-diameter techflex over it, white or black will look really nice, and you'll be able to see some of the shield through the techflex.

That's what I've been doing on my cables lately -- actually I've just been using the foil shield that I get from old poorly-built cables or leftover starquad, with Belden 83005 (teflon insulated, silver-coated copper wire) used as the conductors. But overall it looks good, and I've been pretty happy with the sound.
