I've done a google search but it's kind of overwhelming.

Do you guys have any idea how to sift through the internets to find a good coder and designer?

cheers

It rather depends on how expansive your needs are. If it is just a basic one to advertise your existence you could bosh one up yourself, if it is going to be used for e-commerce you need to set up trader CC accounts and have stuff like shopping trolley software, ordering systems and so on which means some kind of database in the background. If it is going to be really "slick" and professional looking then that will cost you in time or money. Will you be hosting the site yourself ? Do you have IT chaps already ?

Once you have a better idea of your exact needs you will be in a better position.

Who are your likely competitors - what are they doing web site wise ?

Whoever you choose, just make sure you have a good contract. "Work made for hire".

We found a programmer on a university forum, maybe that's an option. If the work is fairly comprehensive, you can package it as an internship.
