I need a new battery for my h140. I was hoping someone here could help me out. If you shopped for a new battery recently, maybe you could point me to your findings. Can anyone give me a link to a site that sells good batteries in the US?

Ah thanks, I was wondering why I didn't see it at first glance in the forums, it's on the wiki instead.

I dread the day that my iRiver ihp120 needs repair. At the cost of a new 30GB drive (or 40 if they ever release it) and a new battery, plus the hassles of dismantling everything and hoping that it still works when you get it back together... it's looking like just buying a 80gb ipod for $350 would be easier and cheaper

So far it has been trouble free for over 2 years (knocking on wood) and using irivium for management is a snap

As said above the 22mah battery for the first and second generation ipod battery is fully compatible as long as you swap the wires on the molex connecter. I done this task yesterday and it was a scoosh. Just make sure you have a Torx 5 driver...

But that's the thing though, Hermitt: iPods don't have the features that the iRiver H1xx players do. If you have ever used or plan on using the optical ports or the recording feature (which is utterly BRILLIANT with Rockbox now, thanks to the automatic gain adjusting!), then you should hang onto it. The optical output should allow for use of a better DAC and thus better sound than you'll get with ANY DAP. That's part of why I've been hanging onto it, and is frankly the entire reason I've ventured into Head-Fi Land. I'm looking to finally utilize all the potential of my beloved H120.

If all you want is playback and more storage, then yeah, an iPoo (with Rockbox, so you can play FLACs) may be a better way to go. You just have to determine whether or not you're going to utilize the features that make the H1xx so special. If so, upgrade the sucker!

That said, I'm dreading the day I have to replace my battery too. Heh.
