Hello,

I've been reading around on this forum and decided that the Audio Technica M50 headphones are a good fit for me. However, I'm having a hard time finding a good deal on them. I read in some posts that people were getting them for about $100 but I can't find any new ones close to that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'd like the straight cord version so I can lay in bed away from my source and listen without any pulling from the cord.

Thanks

Good deals for under $100 on the M50 haven't been around for almost a year now. A deal now would likely not be under $130 so a lot of us have stopped recommending them at this price since it may not be that much of deal anymore.

I guess if you just want a good isolating can with good monitoring capabilities the M50 is good. I personally would look at the Sony V6 because at less than half the price its like 89% as good as the M50 to me but is a little bass-lite compared to the M50 which to me already is not that bassy. I have never heard the Ultrasone HFI-580 (I have only heard Ultrasones PRO900 and should get my PRO750 delivered tomorrow) but a lot of people have said that they are better than the M50 and if they are anything close to the PRO900 then I would agree. Or you can look at the AT pro700mk2 which is supposed to be like M50 on steroids and costs about the same right now. If you want the Ultrasones wait a few days/weeks for amazon to lower their price cause they usually have them for $129. There are also the various versions of the Beyerdynamic DT770 line if you could stretch the budget a little. Someone is probably gonna pop up pretty soon recommending a certain set of really cheap Panasonic's soon too.

heres a linky to the ATs

I think you need to save a lil more and buy the M50's.

There are lots of closed headphones in the $100-140 price range and slightly below.  Here are a few:

KRK KNS 6400 and 8400
Shure SRH-440 and 840...though the 840 are barely under $140

Do a search on these and see if they fit your needs and taste.

I just purchased M50s from The Sound Professionals http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?category=0 for $109 + shipping which I thought was a terrific deal. I have been shopping for several weeks. Amazon is stuck at $159. I also found them for $119. I'm expecting arrival today or tomorrow but so far I've been impressed with the level of service from The Sound Professionals.
