First post and I'm ready to be sorry for my wallet.

Question: I'm interested in the ultrasone hfi-650's but they look like they are pretty hard to find. But does anyone know of anywhere in the midwest (indiana (blah i live here), illinois, michigan, ohio) that I could audition them at?

I'm new as well, but welcome to Head-fi, sorry about your wallet(though thus far this place has saved me money. I decided to purchase the Koss KSC-35's for now instead of plopping down the money for the Ultrasones sight unseen ...or hearing unheard rather)

I emailed the North American distributor. Her name is Linda and she's very nice. I would suggest calling her during the week(she's a little slow to respond to emails)

She was able to give me the #'s for a couple of stores in the San Francisco/Bay Area. The only place I found, however, had only one "evaluation pair". They were selling it for 190, I believe. They also had the DVD version(selling for 210 as i remember). I know you'd like to audition them first, but once you do, if you can wait, I believe Meieraudio is selling them for 170 *shipped*. Depends on whether you want to save 20 bucks and wait 2 weeks..

The store in S.F has a sealed auditioning room, so they're gonna give me a chance to A/B both Ultrasone 650 versions plus some AKG's, Beyerdynamics and Sennheiser's. I'll post my impressions after I'm done.

Here's her contact info:
