Now that I finally have some decent headphones I'm wondering where I should store them when they're not being used. There must be a better approach than my standard "leave them on the couch" method. I feel that perhaps hanging them up somewhere is better for the pads - perhaps on some cyrogenically treated surgical stainless steel hooks padded with zebra hide?

I just lay my SR60s on my mousepad, pads up. Of course they're cheap cans so I don't care. When I get some nicer ones I'll look into a stand.

I keep them on top of their boxes, and covered in big sheets of that plastic packing stuff, you know, the kind you like to pop!!

I lay my RS-1s flat on the bedside table, since I use them almost everyday.

I store my RS-1 in the following:

I have some shelves built in the the alcoves either side of my fire place. The shelves on one side have all my hi-fi gear on them. I bought some wodden door handles designed for kitchen units. I sawed one end down and then mounted them under the shelves. They cost about £2 per pair and because the shelves have a baton running along the front you can't see them.

I hang all of my headphones on either banana hangers or a mug tree.

I store my DT880s in the case (open), my K701s in the cradle, my Grados, ATs, Senn 595s on egg crate foam. My Eytmotics coiled in 5" circles on my dresser. I do have a Headphile Double stand coming soon though. Will probably order a couple more too.
