There are at least a few good and reasonably priced 3.5 mm jack plugs. But where do I find decent jack sockets? Everything seem to be about good looks, and because the doesn't show, there are no good jack sockets?

Yeah, I've bought them at Fry's under the Philmore brand. Philmore packages several very good jacks - their top-of-the-line RCA jacks, #MTG12, I like better than anyone else's at far beyond the Philmore price.

However, I doubt that they make anything on their own - or even have it made exclusively. This 3.5mm barrel jack, in particular, seems ubiquitous under many names and at many places.

I have tried those (I think, but they might be look-alikes), and they have started to crackle. The good thing about them is their small size and that they mount from the inside so you don't have to desolder them when taking the amp apart. I think I will try Kobiconn/Marushin, and then I dont have to use home made isolation washers. That Neutrik posted in message #2 is 6.35 (1/4). I still wish Neutrik or Switchcraft did small jack sockets for chassis mount.
