Can someone tell me the names of places which would let me try out headphones?

Near the Maryland area, would like to hear Sennheiser, Grados, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Sony, Philips...

That depends on where you are and what headphones you want to hear

Most local hifi stores stock some kind of range, at my local ones Sennheiser and AKG are usually fairly easy to find (and Sony

) but other brands can be tricky.

you can always try to find fellow head-fi'ers who live near you. There must be many in your area, after all, Philly, NY, DC, Virginia, Delaware are all an easy drive away.

also keep an eye on headroom/head-fi meetings in the area. there just has to be one coming up for DC (NYC was a few weeks ago).

start by opening your local phone book and making phone calls. then there's the usual www.yellowpages.com, etc. www.headphone.com willallow you to return headphones you don't like (just make sure you have a good idea of which set to order first).
