Are Alessandro headphones clones of Grado headphones?

I noticed that the material, design, and pricing look almost the same.

Can someone please explain?

Also, the $300 dollar pair has the same voice coil and cable as the $700 dollar pair.

$700 - $300 = $400 for an upgrade to a pair of wooden headphone cups?

They look like Grados because they are made by Grado for George Alessandro. Alessandro's headphones are aimed at the professional market. Their sound isn't as aggressive as Grado's Prestige line.

edit: I seriously doubt you'll find it brand new for any price other than $699. The RS-1 is the same price, so you may wanna look into that as well. Finally, check the sale forums here at head-fi. You may really want to consider buying these high end headphones used. I think I saw a couple MS-pros there.
