Where are the reviews of the latest Headroom amps? I'm looking at getting one, but haven't been able to find any professional reviews and very scarce information on the forums other than ppl saying "they're coming, they're coming!"

In particular, I'm interested in the Headroom Desktop Amp with the most basic DAC module, for use with my computer's digital out (lossless audio and CD) and my Senn HD650's.

Any information other than specs would be useful, thanks.

I've written a few fairly extensive posts on the subject.

There are 2 active threads where impressions are given. The most recent is in the Headroom Module thread, somewhere on the front page. I also posted my impressions of the deskop portable with home module and DAC. Search and you'll find it.

The quick answer, it's great, get it, it won't disappoint, but if you can afford the power supply, it will reward you with noticeably better sound. There are (possibly) some better sounding amps in the price range, but none with the integration and all-in-one synergy of the deskop line. I've never heard the max module or max dac, but from my experience with the lower end versions, I have every confidence in my order!

i agree. i have been checking the boards for 2 months looking for specific reviews re: new headroom amps. the 'best' reviews seem to be from the headroom meets head-fi tour. however, no extended reviews here given the nature of head-fi meets (quick listening sessions, overwhelming myriad sources/amps/cans combos). Unfortunately, the fort worth meet's headroom package didnt arrive.

from what i gathered reading the above impresssions...the headroom gang brought a 'maxed' out desktop in addition to everything else. many people were impressed with this amp. apparantly, Tyll referred to it as the 'sweet spot' in the headroom line-up. based on these limited impressions.... i am also considering pulling the trigger this fall on a maxed desktop + power supply. i am a little gun shy considering the hefty 2100$ tag without reading more in depth reviews. i know bout the 30 day return..but def dont want to abuse. i love the versatillity of these amps ...USB/optical/blah....esp since i have a large digital collection and it should be up to the task when i get my real source , Meridian G08.

if anyone has *any* thoughts/impressions on this amp...please do tell.

The estimate on the web page is 2-4 weeks, but my experience with headroom is that they tend to beat those estimates considerably. Time will tell, but I expect it sooner rather than later. Note that I am not going to be using the Desktop Power supply, as I have a Base Station 1 from my cosmic which is internally almost identical (except for having only 1 power output).

Ive got my headroom micro with desktop module and i absolutely love it. I would write a review but i have no other amps or experience with other amps to write an unbiased review. Also, i only own the beyer dt660's, which not many people have, so it would be a biased and mostly uninformative review.

I do enjoy the sound it gives off however. I was using my dt660's right out of my computer for about a month while the micro amp was being made this past august. Tremendous improvements with the micro amp. It taimed the harsh highs, added warmth to the mids and controlled the bass much better. To be honest, it was like listening to new headphones when i amped the dt660's. If yorue interested i could write some more on this, but i really dont feel that im doing any good.
