I'd really like to add something new to my stable. Don't get me wrong, my long-term favorites, the Beyer DT990/600, the X-deep Darth Beyer, the JVC DX1000, and the Denon D5000 are all great cans. But the newest of these is more than a year old. I have tried all the other suspects : K701, HD650, AT W5000, Grado GS1000/RS-1, etc. etc. - didn't love any of them.

So: when will we get a new contender???? Anyone else feel the same - kind of itchy?

Since we share our apreciation for the DX1000 and the DC Darths, and since you like the DT990/600 I think you may want to try out the Kenwood KH-K1000. I think it is definitely better than the DT990/250 or PROline 750 for instance.

and grado did redesign their rs line

i'm in no position to buy a new can, especially a flagship
but it would be fun to read reviews and impressions

Why not try some good old phones looks like youve tried the cream of the crop for the new phones so what about some older ones e.g. akg k1000's or in ears like the ue 11's ?

I would like to see some development in other areas than dynamic drivers. Seems like with the state of modern tech, they could create something interesting. Maybe design something with digital amplification in mind. Maybe a hybrid, something along the lines of K340 I would like to see.

Yeah, the high end Stax are the one cans I have never tried...maybe it IS time

You could always go old school and search for something classic like Sextetts. I also have to say, an IEM might be an interesting addition to a collection like yours. Just my two cents
