I wanted to post a big, public THANK YOU to many of the members here at Head-Fi. As some of you have read (or heard through other members), I lost my wallet yesterday afternoon (know exectly where) and, until about 3pm this afternoon, it had not turned up.

Along with every piece of ID I have (stupid, I know), I lost my monthly transportation and about 50% of the funds collected from the Toronto Meet this weekend.

In a panic, I put my beloved Grado/Eddie Current on the block to help cover the impending expenses of replacing my ID cards and everything in between.

Thankfully, the wallet was returned to the store this afternoon, empty of cash, but with everything else still there.

But this post is not about the wallet. Not at all. This is a public...

THANK YOU!!!

...to the outpouring of support I received from many members of this board. Some I'm familiar with through meets, others through regular PMs and thread discussions and, others still, complete strangers.

There have been a few messages left offering support through a donation "charity", offers to sell unneeded equipment to help my cause or even simply offering cash to help ease the hit. To all of you, your support has touched me, even though I had to decline (I cannot allow such generosity to be directed at a mistake that was wholly my own).

Imagine the looks I got at work this morning, grumpy if not completely irate, only to look like I was ready to cry after so many people stood up, ready to come to my aid.

At any rate, the wallet has been returned, inclusive of all the hard-to-replace ID and cards, which is a huge weight off my shoulders. I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who has been so kind over this stressful day. It is a true reminder that this is a real community, not just another web forum.

There are real, caring people here folks. It's the main reason I contribute to this site and is exactly why I will continue to do so. It's nice to know you have friends and today has proven to me that I have many.

Thank you all.

It would be wise to change all of your credit card numbers and cancel the current ones as well. They could have easily just copied down all of the information (and returned it so you wouldn't suspect that the information was stolen right away).

More than ever, I guess you could say, "Sorry about your wallet".

I gotta agree with colonelkernel8, just change all your important card numbers.

Damn, Ryan, what happened ?! I'm happy that you received it back with at least 50% of the funds but more importantly, that many head-fiers offered some help, it's really the best community I've ever seen on the internet.

You know, I never really post or read in any of the other forums anymore, just Member's Lounge. But I can't help posting here. It's great

Back a couple years ago I joined a forum called AnandTech. My first 2,000ish posts were about computers, as I had just built my first comp and was learning a lot about the subject. Then I discovered the infamous ATOT (AnandTech Off Topic) and before I knew it, I was sitting at ~13,000 posts and I hadn't visited any of the other sections since.

It always seems like the open forums are the most fun.

Luckily it doesn't sound like anyone's tried to copy your cards / ID, rather they just pocketed the cash as a 'reward' for returning it. Still, at least you have the most important things from it.

Wow. You're lucky to get your wallet back. Glad to hear that everything turned out OK, minus the lost cash.

Are you sure your wallet didn't try to get away from you? You might need to chain it down or something
