Okay, taking only the HD580/6X0s into account, what are your favorite tube amps at the following price points? No other indicators or other variables to assistant in choice. Needless to say I'm looking and haven't decided on budget.

A) <$750
B) <$1000
C) <$1500

Thanks in advance.

I had lots of amps and cans...but my favorite at the moment is "toaster" MPX3 SLAM with HD650 (See my sig). I paid less than $600 for MPX3...including plenty of tubes to keep me warm. You got to love the used market

I own bada ph12 and darkvoice and didn't listen any other tube or hyrid amps with my HD650. Both of them fall under the <$750 section.

Darkvoice 336i with sylvania 6SN7GT + western electronic 421A combo sounds really good (with silver interconnects). Not tubey at all, resolution and transperency is there with blooming mids and wide soundstage. No veils or whatsoever and has definitely a balanced sound without boomy or muddy bass.

On the other hand, my bada ph12 with sylvania and 2x RCA 6SN7GT combo gives me a better soundstage and more detail. But at the same time it's more inviting and smooth...

Hope it helps...

750 range- the Eddie Current HD25, a used Singlepower PPX slam, mapletree HD150

1000 range- MPX and PPX slam

1500 range-the singlepower extreme

still, i like the 2K range the best... it brings in the supra, zana deux, home balanced, GSX, and some rudistor offerings.

I'd have to say that one of the best that I've heard is the Wheatfield HA-2, which can only be found used and prices vary wildly ($500 to $800) depending on the tube compliment and condition. And I'll also throw another vote at the Mapletree Purist design. Voodoochile's modified Ear is one of the best amps I've heard with the 650s, regardless of price. It would, however, stretch your budget even if you built it yourself!

Sorta tube amp: I've really been liking my 650s with the HR Millett Hybrid with Home Module, which is $750 without Desktop PS. I'm not sure if the Desktop PS is necessary with the new supply that has been introduced (if it comes with the HR MH), but someone else will need to chime in there.
