Sony Z7M2 - just brilliant, though they are pretty big for taking outside.

Focal Utopia. They have the benefit of sounding great through my DAP as well because they are easy to drive versus my HD800s. Otherwise I would have a harder time deciding. The Focal have better sound, no question, but the openness of the HD800 is nice and also cooler.

Been reading upon this headphone. How do it's soundstage and technicalities compare to the HD800?Hifiman Arya

You must also like portability Would recommend you start fishing for the HD25 Aluminium somewhere, they are a notch better concerning detail compared to the stock HD25 (better sub-bass extension, smoother mids and more detailed). They are a bit heavier but not by much.HD25 among the headphones I currently own as follows
Denon D2000
DT990
T1
Amperior
Momentum over ear
HD700
HD800
HD8DJ
TH900
P7 wireless
Focal Clear
X1
Vmoda M100
Grado HF3
Verite Closed, hands down. Checks off all boxes except portable usage. They have 300 ohm impedance and would get snatched off my head while riding the subway because they look so freaking magnificent.

Take this piece of music, preferrably in lossless form of course.
Listen to it on the HD600.
Enjoy it.
Now listen to it on a Nighthawk.
Be MIND BLOWN.
Close your jaw and don't forget to breathe.
Signed: somebody who owns a HD600 and a Nighthawk, among other cans.
I love my HD600 and it has the edge for many things.
But with deep drums a HD600 has to show its limits, even after EQ. It's normal, just look at its FR.
I can't name the HD-600 as my favorite can under all circumstances.
For instance almost all SS amps don't due well with the HD-600 IMO.
OTOH, with a BH Crack w/ speedball, it kills (very likely two flawed designs finding unusual reality with the other). I still haven't tried a HD-800S on the amp yet - that is supposed to be great.
It'll always be a keeper - right now it sits with my HE-6se, HE-500 - both modded, EQ'd, and driven by a Ragnarok. Funny thing is the 600 needs less EQ than the others - even w/ SS.
I'll never have more than 4 keepers at a time - so ranking with those is no insult.

Why would you quote my post when it was very specifically about DRUMS and about the Nighthawk, not about the HD600 ? You must be mistaken.I can't name the HD-600 as my favorite can under all circumstances.

ZMF Verite Closed Monkeypod. Specifically monkeypod because they are the lightest out of the VC and weight is a significant factor to me when it comes to comfort.

Well the bass on the HD-600 is an issue too many. My post is a perfectly sensible one related to the topic of the thread, and somewhat to yours as a side topic. Sorry in advance if that's too eclectic.
