I know that there are alot of terms that we like to throw around about diff parts of the auditory experiance, from sound stage to decay.

So, if you had to pick one thing that "Chooses" your system above all others, the one thing that you have to have to be happy with waht you hearing, what would it be?

For me its soundstage, I HAVE to have a nice soundstage, if not then Im achin for it.

that's a really hard one. i guess bass, being a techno and rap fan i'm a sucker for tight, detailed bass. but that's a really hard one to choose.

don't confuse that with the crappy one-note bass that the b-boys always have blasting when you're stuck in traffic

For me; it's a tie between the openness and clarity of the mids and highs, followed closely by the rhythmic quality of the bass. I need to be able to easily hear what's going on in the recording, and have my foot tapping; before I can worry about whether or not the musicians are convincingly placed.

Thats actually funny that you point out, I am not so much worried about placment, tho it is nice, as much as having it out there, even if the lines are blurred. So you might say that air'eness is waht mine is.

Clarity and treble extension are necessary. I guess you could call me a treble head!

(Whoops, couldn't get the transparency to work. Oh well, I tried.)

I wouldn't say detail and clarity are the same thing, AF. Detail is more the retrieval of all the elements on the recording, while clarity is more like the opposite of "murky" or "dark" - I've heard a couple headphones that were detailed but not entirely clear.

Personally, I prefer clarity above everything else. If the presentation isn't "clear" it really bothers me.

I've gotten hung up on microdetail. All the very little, barely noticeable stuff that comes out with sensitive transducers. The ribbons spoiled me about four years ago, and I've sought it ever since. The AKG K-1000 and Grado RS-1 are my favorites, easily.

If I wanted to share my music with the other people in my house, or fill my acousticaly challeneged room with sound, I would.
