Yeah it used to be wilder and woolier, but it was more fun. Now it's not.

Interesting bit of Head-Fi history there -- thanks.

Yup, I'll also agree with what has been posted by MintGreenGoblin. The maturity level here amongst members is quite unique. Many of the other forums that I've been to have members who may be older but they don't act like it. Constantly trolling or insulting other members or just plain want to start trouble because they have nothing else better to do. That's not to say we don't have our fair share of trolls here because we do. It just seems that the members here are quick to put those type of people in their respective places who wish to cause trouble.

Very true!
I also post on the tivo community site at AVS.com. Boy there are a bunch of whiney, mean people there. They are a minority, but they are vocal.

Just the other day, I had to email the moderator because somone actually threatened and called me unrepeatable names in a private message. All I did was call him a troll in a thread

. But it was true, and I wasn't the only one to say it.

I guess he pm'd a bunch of people with nasty messages. He was banned for 3 days.

Wow, me too.

I lurked here for about 2-3 months before posting IIRC. As for the "posts per day" count being low, well....all I can say is I have a life.

J/K of course....don't flame me, my asbestos suit is in the cleaners!

Its funny how my posts work actually..

When i'm looking to buy.. I post and read SO MUCH. Right after I get my system.. I stop posting and start enjoying. I've had 2 buy spurts and after each one i've quit head-fi for a couple months. Dunno why really.

I've been here quite a long time, and I visit regularly, but I have a relatively small number of posts. I don't understand how people get over 1000 posts in less than a year.

I've found that when I was a newb, I only read the Headphone & Amp forums, but now that I'm happy with my setup I just try to find threads on those forums where I can help out with my own experience. I also spend most of my time nowadays reading the Music & Members' Lounge forums, as some of this stuff never ceases to amaze me...ancient tortoises, men in womens' jeans, people going to a headphone forum in need of life-altering advice...
