This is a fairly new thing for iems and wondering all about it. Its pretty hard to find detailed info about the science and idea behind this over the standard iem cable design so please educate me on if and how this is better. It is something I am considering for a new player and my custom iems.

At the cable end it's really a change in the plug to a "balanced" TRRS plug instead of the TRS type plug. There are DAPs that provide both balanced TRRS and single-ended TRS connection options. It may make more sense to go for the balanced connection because a balanced design can offer a lower noise floor and more power in reserve in the power amp section of the DAP.

So, it's not really a revolution in IEM or headphone design. If you have a DAP that has balanced plug connection, then it's worth considering. Otherwise enjoy the music regardless!
