Hello i am thinking of buying the beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro, but at the moment i have no amp. I am thinking of buying the Fiio E07K but i don't know how well that would power it. Does anyone have any recommendations of the cheapest amp i could get to power it?

Thank you for your time

Ok!

Let's start helping you to choose an amp.

1) What is your source? What are you listening from. A PC/Mac, iPod, Sansa?
2) What music genres are you listening too?
3) What's your budget?
4) Does it have to be a portable amp/DAC?
5) Do you need a DAC? (Depends on source)
An amp can colour the sound this way or the other. Make the sound more dark, bassier, lighter, airier, etc.
so that leads me to question:
6) What are you missing form your DT990 at the moment?

The E07K is a good entry level amp, I have one myself. However I use it as a DAC/Amp and not as amp only. It should be ok to drive the DT990, however it's not the most powerful Amp. If you are only looking for an Amp and not a Dac, you should look at the E11 and E12 from Fiio.

So let's get a few more details in and then get you in the right direction.

Cheers,
K

Oh sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on head fi for a quite a while, my answers for your questions are as follows:
1. A PC (Desktop and laptop)
2. All electronic music (Dubstep, House, Trance etc.)
3. Aiming under £100, hoping around £80
4. Doesn't have to be portable, it would be good if it was though
5. No idea
6. I don't have the headphones yet, I am going to buy it with an amp

Thank you in advance
