If I buy the Lavry ($1000 new!), it'll be because it sounds good enough for musical enjoyment and b/c it's a ridiculous bargain compared to Meitner and Doson, both of which cost 7-8X that of Lavry. I will say that with true greatness like Dodson 218/Meitner DCC2, there are special qualities that go way beyond frequency balance, clarity, bass, smoothness, etc. The great ones have microdynamic aliveness and sense of total authority/ease that can hit you over the head like a sledgehammer. If I wanted to afford one of these, I would have to wait 'til after tax season and/or wait until Dodson DA219 or Meitner DCC3 comes out ![]() |
