So, I currently own:

UE Super.fi 5 Pro
Koss KSC-75
Grado SR-60
Sennheiser HD580 (soon to be modded with 600 grill & 650 cable)
Beyerdynamic DT-990 2005 Edition
Grado RS-1

My current home amp is an EC/SS which does pretty well with all of the above except the DT-990s. I also really like my Tomahawk which might lead me some day to get a Raptor.

I'm researching what my next purchase will be and I'm thinking about a K701. I heard a set some time ago and was impressed even though I prefer the upfront Grado sound.

On the other hand, all of the above are open so I should probably get a set of good closed headphones. That leaves me to think about the Denon D2000 or D5000 or a set of Darth Beyer's or maybe even some AT-W5000.

What do you all think?

Thanks,
Richard

K701s, AT's, and as for closed, the JVC HP-DX1000s might be worth a try.

Yeah, it's got plenty of juice. It drives the DT-990s too but they don't synergize very well to me.

D2000 a little loudness U-curve not very good soundstage, very punchy sound, smooth with smooth music and the bass gets a little sloppy, but turn some metal on and they starts to shine, the bass tightens upp and they are very fast and involving. K701 = the opposit :P
