Hey, welcome to my thread!

Total n00b here:

A. I know nothing.
B. I just ordered my components and all I even have so far is Cans and Interconnects.

Here's what I'll have to work with:

PS Audio Premier Power Plant
PS Audio AC12 Power Cords
DiMarzio M-Path Interconnects
Onkyo DX 7555 CDP
Onkyo A 9555 Amp
Gilmore Lite Headphone Amp
HD800s

Originally I was thinking CDP - Headphone Amp - Headphones.
Then I got the A 9555 Amp for when I get speakers someday.

Question: Is it a good idea to go CDP - Amp - Headphone Amp - Headphones?

My primary objective is accurate transparent source.

CDP to HA. Less connections and interconnects. Less mutual influence. I have two CDP's for that purpose.

It looks like that amp doesn't really have a line-out, just speaker outputs (unless you're talking about using the tape monitor or mic monitor?)... if you wire up an 85W speaker amp output to the input of a headphone amplifier, it will likely sound terrible (clipping distortion) and/or destroy your headphone amplifier or headphones if you are not careful.
