Whats a used akg k340 worth?

One sold on ebay.uk yesterday, I thought about bidding, but have no idea what a fair price is (unmodded)...They sold for about 130US in the end. Next time should I pounce on it? Also, can a normal amp drive them?

ebay.de (and .at) is the true land of plenty for K340s. The trick is getting them paid for and shipped, though.

Mine ended up costing about $130 including shipping, money transfer fees, and a few beers for my berlin connection.

Well then, get to trawling ebay.de.

You should be able to get one for less than 100eud easily if you are patient.

My K340 auction closed at 72 euros. They were hardly used - the original pads are in like-new condition. I didn't get the original box, but i did get the original packing foam.

Between 130-265.. They really are worth the 265.00, especially with all the mods available.. A normal amp should drive them ok.. & loud isn't a good indicator of being driven properly. With music, I use my 340's with my DAC1 & with the volume on tilt I can get my ears ringing a bit.. But I can still tell its under powered.

I was bidding on that set. It ended at 140 USD without shipping. I gave up on it after buying the modded set on here a couple of day ago. I hope I can drive it, but if not, I'll just have to buy more stuff.

GREAT! Aside from the aggressive Exchange rates it can be nice to live in the land of headphone paradise! Thanks for the amp info too, I was worried that because they are hybrid electrostats that I might need a hydro-electric-nitrogen-cooled-transducer or something! (and I'm sure if had, someone here would know where I could get it!)

I have tried mine with a SuperMini-III, a SuperMacro LE and now a Xin Refernce. All 3 amps drive them just fine but on both the Mini and Macro I enabled the gain switch and the volume was at about 1 to 3 o'clock. I paid considerably more for mine but then they were a fully kt88 modded and recabled set and they are great.

Well, I found one in the price range and it'll be here next week, now I am thinking about an amp. The Aria looks like a nice amp, since I have UM2s for travel, I could get a desk setup. Will it be juicy enough?

What amp will you be running the phones from? They really DO need a beefy amp to open up.

Honestly... there isn't a beefy enough amp for these things under about $2-3K. Philodox finally has an amp where I feel that my K340 are performing where they can. These things scale to their amp like no other can I've ever heard.
