What's a good, different step up from Senn 595?

I've been using the Sennheier HD595 for the last four years, and now I'm thinking of getting some new headphones, up to $450. I'm looking for a different quality sound from the new headphones, something I haven't heard with the 595.

Do the Senn HD650 sound significantly different from the 595? How about the Grado RS2, Denon AH-D2000, or something from AKG or Audio Technica? For some reason, Beyers do not appeal to me.

My current source is my computer's Asus Essence STX sound card, and I'm planning to get a Gilmore Lite or Benchmark DAC-1 in the summer.

I mostly listen to rock (Radiohead, U2, etc.) and ambient electronica (Zero 7, etc.).

It's a new, limited edition Grado. It's available only to head-fi members with more than 5 posts, so you qualify. You order them through Todd the Vinyl Junky (ttvj.com), and make sure you place your head-fi username in the comments box.

Check out reviews and impressions in the HF-2 thread. They seem like a good choice if you were considering the RS-2s. Note that you'll have to wait a few weeks to get yours, as only the first 20 models were delivered at CanJam, but they should be worth the wait and then some.

edit: paaj beat me to it.

No way, someone in a VERY similar situation as me creating a thread with the same intention a day after I created my thread.

I'm just about to pull the trigger on some Beyerdynamic DT-880 cans. I want something different from Sennheiser, so no HD650 for me. Hopefully these are the excitement I need to make music interesting again. It's the contrast in music that makes it great; similarly, it's the contrast in headphones that makes them fun to listen to! I want a dynamic headphone!
