The only thing I know that can save your hide is that you're using the x64 version of Vista, and you're attempting to use the x86 version of iTunes with it.

iTunes will run just fine if you leave the services alone at their stock configuration. Background services consume no resources; stop trying to treat Vista like it's XP and needs to be torn apart and your stuff will start working again.

It only needs Bonjour if you want to share on the network...I have Bonjour service disabled on my machine and iTunes works perfect.

To add on to this post, I agree. You're probably messing up your computer more trying to open all these holes for iTunes, when iTunes should work right from the get-go. I've installed iTunes on multiple computers running radically different hardware and x86 and x64 versions, and it was installed like any other normal program, and it was immeditaely good to go.

oh, i can get rid of bonjour?
thats uses up some ram

well my vista does like to hog a lot o ram, its ok if im not doing anything, if i turn the laptop on it is already using 1.3 or so GB shows that vista need 2!

well i fixed it, i shut it down via task manager and rebooted and it worked, it had loded multiple times

Vista will expand to use all of the RAM you give it for cache. If a program needs that memory, it will be instantly freed. Unused RAM is wasted performance potential. Vista only needs 1GB of RAM (I've used a Vista system for daily use for a year on an Athlon XP 2800+/1GB of RAM and even gamed on it). 2GB will certainly help performance, but it runs just fine on 1.

i would not want 1gb for vista, im guessing you can manage it, is that without aero? surely not games?

i know my sidebar takes up a whole load of performance, but most of the time its not causing a problem, if i ever play a game i disable the sidebar, aero goes on its own,

i also need to free up some space, i got 9% left across both my laptops hard drives,

That's with Aero. And that's playing games such as Counter-Strike Source and The Sims 2. You confuse used RAM with performance. Just because Vista is utilizing your RAM doesn't mean that it's hogging resources. Again: VISTA IS NOT XP.
