OK, since

A) The exchange rate is still poo
B) I got no monies at the moment

I won't be upgrading for a while yet but anyway, I'd still like to get a fair indication of what I could upgrade or side-grade too.
(Side-grade = basically buying a headphone at around the same price range as the 'old' one.)

1) I love the my current '03 DT880's detail but I'm a detail freak so the more the merrier.

2) Soundstage..the more the merrier too as I have AD700's too so have a fair indication of what great soundstage is. Soundstage with depth too as the DT880's has soundstage but no depth imo. So yeah due to this, no Grados unfortunately.

3) As balanced as possible in terms of treble, midrange and bass.

4) A bit more bass response than my current '03 DT880's but the above three are higher priorities.

5) Upgrading my amp could be an option too if that is the best option (currently have a Headfive)

6) Good all-rounder music wise

7) STAX an option?

8) I'd say max ~$500 for now.

9) If a better solution is an amp, I'd aim for an amp if better headphones are a better option, then that. Doesn't matter either or.

TIA.

Re: 2) If Grado GS1000 doesn't have soundstage, what does? Don't tell me AKG K1000.

The answer is: buy better amp as you're using pretty generic op-amp driven circuit which won't teleport you to the aural heaven. For the Beyer's you could try an OTL but don't know which exactly. I'm sure somebody will advise you soon.
