Any suggestions? Do the QUAD ESL speakers come close to the LAMBDA sound?

Yes they do, but you are dealing with room acoustics too, so probably not going to be all that close but similar. Have that airy detailed sound to them. I thought the bass was just a little lacking but really not that bad.

Magnepan is also a good choice.

The room plays a big part in the final sound signature but as long as your room isn't super reflective or super dead you should get good results.

You also need to space them a few feet away from any room boundaries....so be prepared to dedicate a room to that type of speaker setup.....another reason why headphone audio is so popular.

What is it in the sound that you are looking to match? A lot of stats reproduce airy and detailed sound. The bass impact is detailed but not as impactful as other types of drivers because of their size and throw limitations. So if you want the best of both offerings, you have to carefully match a musical sub to the effort. If your choice is Quads, it's a good place to start.

Another alternative is Martin Logan, but they are a hybrid with an Electrostatic panel and a dynamic woofer.

They are a nice alternative if you like bass.
