So this week, I'm planning on buying a new set of IEMs. I currently have my eyes on either the Shure E310 or the Super.Fi Pro 5.

Has anyone here had any experience with either of these phones?

I'll be mainly listening to these with a Cowon D2, so I'm interesting in seeing how these are compatible with this source.

Mainly, I'm looking for clarity and detail. Bass is important, but I don't want it to be overpowering.

Any comments would be great.
Thanks!

Sorry can't help you with the Shure E310, never heard them. I can assure you the D2 is a good match with the Super.Fi 5 Pro's. The UE's will reveal all the good qualities of the D2, (but of course, I can't say that the Shure won't also). Someone else will have to comment. Good luck.

Having had the 310's and just recently got my hands on the super.fi 5 pro's,I have to say that the super.fi 5's are a good deal better than the shure's.The super.5's pick up all the little details so much better than shure.Bass response is really smooth and strong without being overwhelming, and the high's are crystal clear. The 310's are more expensive than the super.fi 5's but imo the super.fi 5 pro's are a step closer to perfection than the shure's.

I found them more comfortable than the Shure's.I had 2 pairs of Shure's and while they were a good fit,I just seem to be able to get a better seal with the super,fi's without having to push them in so far.

Worn the standard way, they do stick out from the ear and might look silly, but I wear them reversed. They look fine, don't stick out and I find them very comfortable.

Oh, so you did the "flip mod"?

Yes, I did the flip mod, and "upgraded" to the Westone ES (replacement) cable. The stock cable isn't really microphonic at all, but it is a bit tacky. I always liked the Westone cables. Can't really say it's a significant sonic upgrade though, but it is a real ergonomic improvement.

For me, while the Flip mod made the 5 pros somewhat more comfortable, they really never got comfortable enough to use regularly. Did like the sound though.

Right now, I am listening to the 210s. They do not sound as good as the 5pros (never heard the 310s) but they are pretty musical and more comfortable for me compared to the superpros.
