Hi. I don't know much about audio equipment and i'm hoping you guys can shed light on my concerns.

I'm currently enjoying the Sennheiser HD700 and ATH-W5000 with my iPod Classic and the HiFiman HM-602. I'm into pop, rock, jazz and am most concerned with getting the best possible percussion sounds.

The HM-602 already has a built-in amp and i'm quite happy with it but would like to know if i'm missing anything by not pairing my stuff with a dedicated portable amp. After researching the past 2 weeks, my options are down to the Alo Continental V3 and the NuForce icon HDP. What other portable amps should I consider?

Another option is to get the HM-901 when it's available. However, i'm concerned about the amp upgrades. I read somewhere that one has to upgrade the stock amp in order to maximize harder to drive headphones.

DAC function would be nice although not necessary. More important for me would be having a built-in rechargeable battery and a not too big footprint.

I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts on my situation. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
