The way I see it, nearly everyone is picky about something or another. For a lot of people it's clothes, cars, watches. For almost all of us on this site, it's audio equipment, obviously.
But what else?
I notice Vertigo has both some really expensive inkpens and an Aeron ($600 office chair). (Sorry Vert, I needed an example.)
For me, I'm picky about anything audio but that includes home theater and movie theaters, too. I get really irked by blown speakers and such in movie theaters.
I'm also pretty finicky about steak. I find it ironic that I can eat a cheap hamburger and feel satisfied but I'll nitpick the hell out of an expensive filet mignon. Stange, but true.
I'm picky about beer. I hate that people even call Budweiser and Sapparo beer. Mass market American and Japanese companies have tarnished the word.
I'm very picky about chocolate. It's not that I won't ever eat a Snickers when I'm starving and there's a vending machine around, but for curing a chocolate craving, it just doesn't work. Swiss and Belgian chocolates are more what I look for. I'll settle for Lindt and even Ghiradeli if I have to.
Finally, there's people. Man, I just have no tollerance, I'm a total snob. I've begun to play this game where I strike a conversation with someone and see how many sentences it take them to mention some religious, political or health cause. And if they're not some kind of activist, then I just look for them to be an idiot. Most people don't disappoint. Yeah yeah, I know this is some involved defense mechanism involving rejection and abandonment issues or whatever, but I think it's also a matter of just not having patience. So anyway, yeah, I'm picky about people.
I want to be picky about cars but I can't afford to be. I'm driving a Honda and it works, so I'm thankful for that. I used to drive a Type R which I liked a lot and I'd rather be driving a 911 Turbo.
What do you guys make a big deal over?
