What kind of colour would one use to dye hd414 pads?

I got a pair of 414 pads for my Grados and they both sound and feel nice but they IMO look awful.
I would like to dye them either black or deep red.
What kind of permanent colour sticks to plastic foam? And how would one go about doing the actual dying job?
Any experience?

I have never dyed the pads but I think some people use RIT dye. It is usually used to dye clothing and such.

Here is my recipe (worked very well).
1. boil water,
2. remove from heat,
3. add Rit dye,
4. add pads,
5. soak for an hour,
6. remove and rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse.

Maybe sink into some water/downy after the rinse and rinse it again ?
