My two favorites are Saving Private Ryan and Stalingrad (German version). Not a movie, but I believe Band of Brothers is the best depiction of what it was like for US forces in the European Theater.

Patton...nothing else comes close for me.

The man was a heroic, larger than life figure. Not without his flaws, he was born to do what he essentially did - win WWII.

Zulu, Born on the Fourth of July, and of course Saving Private Ryan.

And on a lighter note, Father Goose and Kelly's Heroes.

And if intergalactic battle counts (I don't see why it couldn't), Star Wars is also an all-time favourite!

The Patriot.

Drums along the Mohawk wasn't too bad. As wasn't Gone With the Wind, and Dr. Schivago.

(I figure, why be contemporary?)
