what is your favorite headphone and why?

I would say the headphone I enjoyed most, dt880. But that's because I haven't assembled a setup w/ the HD650 yet. The RS1 is quite notable as well. Hell, I've liked every phone I've had.

Dang, this is a surprisingly tough question to answer. Too many assumed constraints.

No holds barred absolute first choice for an involving listen is the K1000 w/ subwoofer. I would not trade it for any headphone that I have heard to date. Nothing short of speakers can touch the dynamics, detail, soundstage, sense of reality, and bass extension.

My DT990s are my most used pair of headphones, they do such a great job with trance. They have most of the bass of the DT770s, nice treble extension and although not as well balanced as my other cans they are a blast to listen to.

I'm loving my SR-325's. I think the HP-1000's I've listened to are better, but, I like these more as they are more involving, and I've not seen anything in the RS or PS series to make me believe those are better, they just do some things better. Only the DT770's have approached the level of involvement I get with Grado's, they're my groove cans.

My DT440s are my favorite set o' cans!

I've listened to a wide range of cans, and while I don't like Sennheiser (they are terribly uncomfy to me and they are a bit too laid-back) and I enjoy Grados (a lot of lively punch, but they really tend to make my head hurt with that grip of death they have =P) I believe that my good old DT440s are probably my favorite headphones.

They sound good with most anything I throw at them... Aikawa Nanase and Shiina Ringo to Opeth and Nevermore, to A Perfect Circle and Sublime to BoA, Hamasaki Ayumi, Bonnie Pink... they are amazing to my ears.

I like their versatility; they are the one set of cans that can sound not best, but very very close, with each and every music type I listen to.

Well my hp1000's (hp-2's) are here. At first I didn't "get" the sound but now I do. Totally different to any grado I've heard. That is until my hp-1's arrive

Been enjoying the 325's as well. Posted pics of them in the pictures forum. But at this very moment the hp-2's are doing it for me.

HP-2's. I just like the extra slam the 325's have. I'd love to get a pair of HP-1000's, though, and pair it with the dynahi I'm going to build.

I have heard about dynahi and another headfier has offered to build me one. But is it expensive. I really got to stop buying all this stuff.
