Where the cord splits for the right and left bud, I notice something. The cord to the left bud is half the size of the cord to the right bud.

WHY DO THEY DO THIS? It's so ANNOYING!

The Sennheiser MX300s that came with the iRiver player and the Panasonic ones do that.

It's to loop the longer portion behind your neck. Doing that helps take the "pull" off your ears and enables you to remove one of the buds to talk to someone without the removed bud dangling around your navel.

I like it.

Well, this means I have to have the CD player attached to my stomach so the wire'll reach my ears.

I like keeping the remote on my belt clip, the wire's to short to reach it that way.

So, you're complaining about the main-lead length. Most I've seen are plenty long. My EX-70s are too long.

Different headphones have different length cords depending on the purpose. For example, most of the short-cord models are meant to work with portable audio players that have a remote (almost doubling the length of the cord). That's why it's short.

Just buy a regular or long length model.

i agree that the cord length of the mx500 is almost too short.
