Personally, I've been on Macs for 15 years, but my brother is a PC guy and the kind of person with an email address like BOBC3726@aol.com - if you catch my drift. Like, he doesn't know how to open an Mpeg file. What a family embarassment! Anyway, I know because I just got him a D-CJO1 for christmas that he's going to want to try and rip a cd and encode it as mp3s (bwaahhhaahaa!). But for the sake of argument, what is an EASY TO USE CD ripper and mp3 encoder that I might find free on the web and point him to. An all-in-one, step-by-step package (ie the PC version of Itunes) is imperative. Thanks.

Hey! And you can also toss me the name of a program you have to buy. Maybe I'll add that to his gift.

CDex. (LAME)

create a folder. move/copy files to there or unzip to there. put CDEX icon on desktop.

hope you have wn32aspi.dll on your cdrom install cd. copy to appropriate system area. run CDex. set to highest bit rate, quality=9. enjoy.
