If you want to tinker and want the best accuracy / reliability (including offsets), then it's either EAC (with any modern non-broken cd reading drive) or Plextools Pro (any modern Plextor manufactured cd reading drive).

The differences in performance between Plextools and EAC are small and variable, but both perform better than CDex (which doesn't have accurate offset correction).

Plextools is easier to use, if you have a Plextor drive.

EAC takes some time to configure, but works easily, once you have it configured.

If you just want easiness and don't really care so much for quality esp. with scratched discs, then practically any ripper will do (including iTunes).

So, take your pick:

- tinkering / lots of options: EAC
- for plextools drives, easier to use, no tinkering: Plextools
- for non-copy protected, non-scratched discs: iTunes or just about anything else

cdEx actually wouldnt work for me. it would simply stop, not crash in the middle of ripping, even new cd's and all you could do to fix it was to eject and reinsert the cd, leaving gaps in the middle of songs. i now use media monkey. it is great, as it doesnt cause problems and uses LAME and gives a nice interface to configure your LAME options
