Hye guys, i use the HD 25 on the go with my ipod but they are not really suitable for classical music, more for pop/rock/hip hop. However, the HD25s seems to be one of the best portable cans, its durable, easy to drive and relatively small. Are there any other cans that come close to it but more suited to classical music? Thanks!

I would say it completely depends on how much money you are willing to spend. I am a huge classical music nut. If you will be using your iPod, then here are my recommendations:

Under $500.00

Shure E3's -> These are relatively low priced and they sound very decent with classical. However, they are a little lacking in the bass section.

Super.fi Pro's. -> These seems to be made with the iPod in mind. The sound fantastic for classical and sound just as fantastic with anything else you throw at them. I would highly recommend these.

Over $500.00

RS-1's -> People may disagree with me on this, but I feel these sound the best with woodwinds. They are very light and I think you may like them with classical. They provide a nice warm and fun sound. Not really for portable use though and they certainly deserve something better for a source.

UE-10 Pros -> I have never heard anything better than these. If you have the money - then this the way to go. The sound is not colored, sounds faithful to the source and it just plainly sounds great. The ultimate phones to have.

Hope it helps.

Well the E4 is spectacular with classical, but it seems that many people don't think very much of the E4 in combination with the iPod. If you're using the line out with a good amp, the combination should be very good.
