All suggestions must be able to be safely placed on my head without frying my wig.

I got one Stax SR-30 for $1 and another for something like $10.

Sure, i had to use parts from both to get one working pair, but they work.

They're electrets, but those are technically still electrostatic.

Simple answer? Make your own.

Plastic bags, pencil, offcuts of metal mesh, the cheapest pot of epoxy you can find, some thin cardboard, and cheap high voltage transistors from an electronics store.

Knock yourself out, hopefully not literally.
