I used the word"best" in my thread title, but some people take it as an excuse to distort my intention...

"Best" here does not means absolute best, but OPTIMAL for a relative ratio in each one personal audio ONGOING journey....Best for us at this point in time and in your journey for some amount of money and compared to your past experiences ....




My own opinion if i stay on low price /high S.Q. :

--------- Akg K340/ Sansui alpha amplifier/ hidizs dac ... cost for all three components : around 700 dollars

It is my actual system which is the winner to beat by anyone proposal here.... it is very, very, hard to beat my system at this price, trust me...





Alternative proposition if the price is without ceiling :

--------- AKG k340 / Berning zotl amplifier/ Dr.Choueri dac with his BACCH filters..... cost : 27,000 dollars

Very hard to beat at this price i bet nearly impossible to beat with this S.Q. nor in low cost ...

The bad news i dont have the money for my costlier second system ; the good news i already own a K340 which is the common element in my two propositions... Lucky me....


Welcome to all suggestions on the same pattern....

First give the best S.Q. for the least price...

Second, give the best S.Q. with no ceiling for the price....

But anyway even without ceiling find some system at the lowest possible price to be King among others... Price does not equate S.Q.


I am interest and curious about each one audio journey not by the BEST EVER AT HIGH PRICE .....There is no BEST EVER... Each audio system /room and headphone and components and ears/brain are different....

I will have to agree with Richard51 about the K340, until I find something that outperforms it (Technically and musically) after eq is applied.
The stock (green driver) K340 slightly equalized to perfection and driven by my Luxman R-113 has some special magic that I just can't reproduce with any other headphone.

Enjoyment= priceless

I just propose two systems above, one with low price price for the best S.Q. and i proposed another system with an optimal but highest price for the best S.Q. The only common element between these two audio systems is my K340 i could not change...

You clearly meant to write "beauty is in the eye of the beholder multiplied by nostalgia" but somehow ended up writing sound quality over price as criteria to advertise how much you love a 45-year-old headphone monster with barely more success than all the other multidriver headphone attempts.
I guess your signature and talking to yourself in the k340 thread wasn't enough to contain your love.

With IEM's it's definitely Tin T2, you just need to get the right tips for it and you are done. They will walk in circles against something like airpod pros and many other wired/more expensive gear like from shure.

With headphones I would say hunt for used "Original Focal Clear"(550 bucks). Yes I've heard most of sennheiser lineup and I think Clear is easily few tiers above in terms on how headphone SQ scales. These actually have one of the best stage depth, very good stereo imaging as far as headphone capabilities goes. Of course it may depend on priorities of consumer, but regards it's technical capabilities I've found no headphone that competes for a used Clear price now
