This thread is for some of the non purists who sometimes indulge in the iPod/iPhone EQ preset. Please list the genre you listen to with the EQ preset that use it with, as well as the headphone/amp you're using.

Genre: Rock/Preset: Electronic or Treble Booster
Genre: Alternative/Preset: Electronic

Headphones: Shure SE530's
Amp: C&C XO settings: (impedance low) (gain low) (bass hi) (sound stage hi)

My portable phones are only the Sony EX71s and the Sennheiser MX400s. For the EX71s, I would like to use spoken word/vocal booster but it introduces a hell of a lot of clipping. So I use treble reducer instead to sort of even out the treble and mids. I don't EQ the MX400s because I really enjoy their sound signature.

I just run Replaygain and nothing else. The trebles are a little much but that's what you get with a cmoy and Grados. None of the presets really did anything for me, I couldn't get it where I felt I wasn't losing a big chunk of the sound.

Not sure the relevance of this thread other than guys that use amps tend to use no EQ while those of us that don't go amp tend to use some sort of EQ.

Then you consider the type of IEM and that's a bunch of other variables...

The relevance of the thread, was to satisfy my curiosity and to learn what iPod EQ settings go with what genres of music. I myself use a headphone amp, but I still find myself sometimes using the iPod EQ. That's why I said this thread is for the "NON" purists who sometimes indulge in the iPod EQ. And yes, there are plenty of other variables; which is why I said to also list the equipment you're using as well.
