What is dac??

Okay this may sound funny but I don't really know. My current setup: Audiophile USB -> Harman Kardon Stereo Amp -> Rega Ear Headphone Amp -> HD595. If I had dac where would I put it?. Does it improve the sound much?.

You can put it between Audiophile USB and Rega Ear Headphone Amp. I don't think you need the Harman Kardon Stereo Ampin your setup even without a new DAC.
