What is a "hybrid pulse DAC"?

This appears in a lot of Sony marketing material, but I can't seem to determine exactly what it is. Google is no help, all the hits are just Sony product listings.

So what is it?

And how, in general, can one find out exactly what DAC various players use? Most manufacturers don't actually say what chipset they use in each player...

hmm, OK. I know the DAC inside my HT receiver are Delta-Sigma, but I'm still not sure exactly which technologies Sony is "hybridizing" here to get their DAC.

I suspect that "hybrid pulse dac" is a general marketing term for some proprietary integrated circuit. It might incorporate number of components ranging from dacs to digital filters. Beyond that, I would start looking through white papers, specs, etc.
