Of course, your K701 and DT880 are more on the accurate (some have said "clinical") side. But using words to describe sound has always been kind of a delicate thing, especially when it comes to a more ambiguous term like "fun."

In the interest of clarity...

What do you personally mean when you talk about a "fun" headphone?

1) The price is FUNny (expensive for bad headphones)
2) The construction is FUNny (cheap)
3) The value is FUNny (horrible value)

for me it is the SR-60..and for me a fun phone is one that is not as accurate but a smooth sounding and great for all types of recordings..for the phone that is most fun is the SR-60 or K75...

That said, the onephone I listen to most though on the go or walking about it the MS-1...(because of its more neutral presentation)

A phone that gets your feet tapping, your head bobbing, and your body swaying.

A phone that helps the music in its mission - creating moods, vibes and all that other good stuff.

Any phone that helps you enjoy the music and any phone that gets you moving and swaying to the rhythms, melodies, and beats is a fun phone.

I would vote the sr60s or the 225s. But those are the only two "hifi" phones ive listened to.

I think they mean the kind that grabs a hold of you instead of you making the effort to listen intently. I think the Senn 600 gives a sound that seems absolutely accurate and elegant making one wonder what else you could want, but after a listening session, I tend to feel unfulfilled. Not only that but it makes it hard to concentrate. It takes a real effort.

The K701 is similar except it forces you to pay attention with the amazing airiness and soundstage. Very good, neutral, accurate listening, but still you observe it and don't participate.

The RS-1 gives a less accurate sound but it grabs a hold of you. The GS-1000 gives you both. The bass gives you the feeling that you usually only get from speakers that keeps the impact real while giving a rich sound that makes you feel like you are participating rather than observing from afar.

I guess it has to do with PRAT mostly.

IMHO.

not alot of recommendations yet... i'd say KSC-75's... i was planning on buying a set of portables (IEM or etc) but found that the KSC-75 would be fine; cheap and fun... i can always buy another if they break!
