So, I've got the Shure SE530s and am very happy with them, but only on the portable aspect.

I basically want some comfortable full size headphones with excellent sound quality (don't we all) for my home listening. I've been looking at the Denon Ah-5000 but fear they're outta my price range, so maybe something more like the Sennheiser HD600? I don't mind paying more if the difference is worth
My budget is £150-200 - $250-330.

Sound isolation is not a must so I don't care if they're open or closed.

What could you recommend? Like the SE530s in sound quality but with a better sound stage and a bit more bass, but in no means to compromise the mids/highs. Listen to mostly "rock"/metal but do delve in all types of music.

All help/advice is greatly appreciated by this audiophile newbie!

My experience is limited, but I would like to advice in favor of Denon AH-D2000. I listen to the same music you do, and I could not have been happier with these.

Chill, dude. Bumping every hour is annoying and won't help matters much.

Start reading up on AKG K601/701, Denon D2000, and HD600. There's a lot been said about the D2000 v. HD600 recently.

The akg's or senns would be good. Do you have an amp? These two phones will work best with one.

AKG 701's are my home phone of choice. I also have a pair of AKG 271s when I want to run with closed cans or want some sound isolation. I also have a pair of AKG 301's and AKG 240M kicking around for the kids.

My other home phone is choice is the Grado 325i for rock 'n' roll and metal.
AKG 701 or 271s for everything else.

Cheers!

Wow! Bumping after just 30 minutes!

I say calm down, and give people some time to respond.
No advice from me, because of rude behavior.

yeah sorry about bumping, it was late, i was stressed and havn't started a thread on here before blah blah. yeah won't do that again, so c'mon krmathis I'll calm down in hope of some feedback

But yeah well I like the look of the 701s and they seem to be the phones I'm looking for, in terms of price and suspected quality. However the hd600s and the 650s have caught my eye as lots of people are saying good things about them. 600 vs 650? worth it over the 701s?
In terms of Denon they seem to be just outta my price range, but of course, if somone vouches for them I can justify the extra cash.

In terms of my set-up I'm due to have the cash to put together a new computer inc a top sound card. Ampwise I only got the RSA tomahawk which is fine for IEMs but I fear upon getting some real 'phones it won't do.
So w/ good soundcard etc what sorta non portable amp should I be looking at (preferably not tooo expensive)

Yeah sorry about bump :/

Where are you seeing that the Denons are more expensive? You can buy them brand new for less than $200, granted many places are out of stock. If you're getting HD650s for less than that please let me know where!
