Sometimes I amaze myself with my utter stupididity. Hear I am at home with my parents (I am 17 give me a break), listening to my Nomad JB3 with my Ety's and super mini when I realize my parents have a great stereo system. Not the accoustic (past post). Hidden away in our basement living room we have a complete Kenwood stereo system. Let me list all that is in it; Kenwood Power Amp KM-208, AM/FM Radio KT-58, Stereo Amp KC-208, Dual Cassette KX-78CW, 6 Disc CD Changer DP-M98, Equalizer GE-5010, and hell there is even a Turn Table KD-48F. And to listen to this system 4 bose boxed speakers. Anyway back to my point I began to wonder just how good of a sound I could get from this system. So I hooked up my ER-4p/s have the adapter cable, and put on the most beautiful peice of music ever created Pachelbel's Canon in D major. The sound brought me to tears, it was as my headline states what I imagine heaven to sound like. Keeping in mind that this song already gives me goose bumps just by hearing it, I was amazed. The highs were perfect and I could hear every level of the song, some I had never heard before. I sat and listened to this song for... well lets see about an hour now over and over agian, just trying to capture the whole song. Needless to say I am still hearing new things, on my last run through I could pick up the conductors presence. The small grunts and movements he made I heard. Some would say that this is somehow detracting, I don't see how. For me it serves to add to the music, it puts me right there in the audience.

Which brings me to my question have you ever heard that right song with the right equipment that just sounds perfect. I now know what perfections effect can have. Somethings were just meant to be... so if you excuse me I am going to go listen to my entire CD collection so I'll talk to you all in like a couple of days or so or untill my ears are falling off.

Ahhh...Pachelbel's Canon in D major [remembered this song after watching Evangelion Death & Rebirth (anime)] is a wonderful piece. Good job on your find!

Congrats! But the equipment listing begs the question: where did you plug your phones into?

Awesome experience Sparticus. Sounds like you got a glimpse of what we all strive for here at this site. A time in audio bliss which we cherish, it's worth it in the long run.

Did you vote in the poll about why you like to listen to headphones?? If not, make sure to click the DETAILS box if you do. Sounds like you're a detail person also.

Trounce - is that the album where you can here the guy toking and coughing?? I have not heard it with a good headphone system, but I think that's the one. Might have to look into getting that album again.....

Try and get yourself a copy of the Jean-Francois Paillard Chamber Orchestra version (Erato 4509-98475-2). IMO, it is the definitive recording of Canon in D Major and I've heard a lot of 'em!

While i think it's far from perfection on my current rig (melos/931's), that's probably the closest i've ever gotten to divinity as well
