So im a complete noob when it comes do headphones. I really like beats but i dont listen to rap so the base amplifying they do isnt something i care for.
I usually listen to rock and i want to find something of a beat quality for more for around at most ~200 maybe a little more.
any suggestions? I like clarity too if that helps haha

mostly an ipod. and I dont really know the difference between them.

In short--open cans let some of the music out from ear cups so that those around you can here it.  Therefore, they are not good in public  or in close roommate situations.

Closed cans are closed around the back of the ear cups and therefore do not tend to leak sound.

I would give the Grado 225i or the Denon D2000 a shot.  The Grado house sound is amazing for ROCK, anything with guitar and vocal is to die for.  Denon will give you more a** kicking bass but enough mids and highs to be pretty balanced.

I liked the Beyer DT770 pro 80 ohms. They were comfortable and did well with rock and all genre's. A bit loose with the bass (still better than Beats bass) but enjoyable and comfortable.

FYI if you are looking at the Denon AH-D 2000's then you better hurry, the D2000,D5000, and D7000 have just been discontinued.

+1 Once you get tired of the sound you can get it modded by Larry who will greatly improve the sound and looks(depends on what you like). While a tad pricey,is well worth it.
