Hello, Im new here and have spent the last few days browsing through the forums but have been unable to find the information i desire.
I need some headphones to plug into a guitar multi-effects processor that I play my guitar through. I dont know much about the requirement for a headphone amp, but i dont think i will need one, as the multieffects processor must have some kind of amp inbuilt as it can pump out more than another volume to get my full size phillips headphones distorting and crackling severely and blow my eardrums.
I really wanted to spend a decent amount of money, and get headphones that would last me ages, but when i went to the store, they said that for the application, i dont need 'monitoring' headphones and said that some cheapies are all that i need, as they will sound better for what i want to use them for than some high end monitors such as the ATK 271's. I was not entirely convinced that some $70 made in China seinheisens would infact sound better to me than some $300 european made monitors.
So basically i will be using them to play the guitar (I play mainly metal and rock) and alos listen to music. The effects processor i use has extensive inbuilt equalisers to customise the sound as well.
What headphones can people recommend me to check out? I know absolutely nothing about headphones, but by the looks alone, I like the Shure SHR840, AKG 702, AKG 271, DT 770's, and Audio Technica M50's. They will pretty much exclusively be used for playing guitar sitting at home on my couch.
Thanks for your advice, it is much appreciated.
