If you meant the ones on the headphone stands, they are new open orthos by head-direct. They are to be price around $700 or so but they are very very impressive especially the bass.

I think someone mentioned might be orthodynamic/planar.

I'd probably guess they are going to be OEM. So start looking around who still makes Ortho drivers and may lead to some hints or more information about these headphones. Like when people found the pictures of headphones at Fostex website, so we now know who actually makes Denon headphones.

Nope, the only modern manufacturer who makes orthodynamic drivers is Fostex.
And the new Head-Direct/HifiMan do NOT use Fostex drivers. They are completely new. I believe they were developed by Head-Direct themselves.
There is also another company Audeze who debuted their Orthodynamic at the same time at CanJam, and again they developed their own driver too.

Is $700 the final word on pricing or is that an estimate?

Nope, Fang said somewhere around $600/$700/$800 if I'm not mistaken. That's why I took the middle ground and said $700.

The HE5 planar magnetic phones sounded very good on the EF1 amp. It reminded me a lot of my Stax Gamma Pro woodies that Smeggy made up for me (aka Smegma Pro). I did like it and would like to hear it again sometime with even better amps.

The EF2 amp someone referred to is mine, and with my HD600 it sounded quite similar to the EF1 and is very nice; but it didn't have enough power to properly drive the HE5 to the same loud and punchy levels the EF1 could. However the HE5 are the exception and it has no problem driving my HD800 or HF-2 either. I am burning it in and then can report on the amp later.

And they won't show it to us for some reason.
