I'm going there, would be useful to know if there are any bargains to be had?

Is there any brand of headphone significantly cheaper in HK than in Europe, for example Grado's are ridiculously expensive in Europe compared to what they are in America.

Thanks in advance!!

Shure's and Audio Technica's will be cheaper, since they're both made in Japan AFAIK (You can get an ATH-M50 for around $1000 HKD if you haggle/pay by cash). Beyers and Sennheisers will be about 5 - 10% more expensive than Amazon in the US or Europe. I saw AKG's and even Audeze LCD-2's available but I don't remember their price range in relation to USA. My guess is they will be slightly cheaper than Europe though (No VAT or sales tax in Hong Kong).

Go to Wan Chai Computer Center, it's on 130 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai. They have a couple Headphone shops that sell all the good brands, and the shop assistants all speak English. They may also do a cheaper deal with you if you pay in cash. There's another audiophille shopping center that I know of in Kowloon, but I don't think the shopkeepers speak English ;)

A funny thing though is how the Fiio Amps sold there can be like 20 USD more expensive then Amazon, the frigging things are only made 100 miles away.

Enjoy your trip to Hong Kong!

International operations protect their distributorships by ensuring that the RRP on their products is very close from one country to the next, although the Senn distributor here is a joke and the Brits seem to get royally screwed on the price of many headphones.

If that wasn't the case, and China was automatically 'cost+10^%',  we'd all be lining up outside no-frills warehouses in Shenzhen or Guangzhou.
